NATURE
It is the largest lake of glacial origin on the peninsula. You can enjoy nature in every corner, a swim on its beaches, a boat or canoe ride, one of its numerous hiking routes, mountain biking along traditional paths, going up to Laguna de Peces on a road bike, one of the climbs of the Vuelta in one of its editions or simply enjoying the landscape.
VILLAGES
There are many small towns in the region; Ribadelago on the shores of the lake, Puebla de Sanabria with its historic and artistic complex, San Martín de Castañeda with its 12th century Monastery, El Puente de Sanabria and its Monday Market.
SURROUNDINGS
Lake Sanabria is a starting point for excursions to nearby provinces such as León and Orense or even to our neighbour Portugal, since we are just a few kilometres away. Another alternative is to visit Zamora, the capital of the province and one of the European cities with the most Romanesque style buildings.
